HELLO AND WELCOME TO MY INTRODUCTION PAGE!
My name is ________ and I am creating this website to demonstrate some of the skills that I want my students to do on their own Weebly websites. This project focuses on providing my students with a couple different tools: time management, resourcefulness, creativity, grit and perseverance.

Introduction to project
2016 CAPSTONE LEARNING OPPORTUNITY
This year instead of a journal, and instead of a Learnist, you will be creating a Weebly website to document your I.D.U. experience in both English and Social Studies class. The reason for the change is simple, why not! Why not...try something new! Why not...develop your Web 2.0 skills! Why not.. document an experience in your life that allows you to dive into the material! Why not...explore something of interest! Why not...take a crazy chance!
I know, I know you have no idea what you're doing. But that's okay, because we have the internet. I am assuming no one has created a Weebly website before so we are all learning together. Sources you can use to find information: Each other, Youtube, Weebly blog, and an Internet Search
For example..."OMG, I don't know how to add a page onto my Weebly website!" Well, you have FOUR options, ask a friend, ask youtube, search the Weebly blog, or search the internet. Here is what I came up with the simple search of "adding a page on to Weebly website" on all FOUR options: On your mark, get set, go:
-Each other...well no one was around, so I couldn't ask any of you. Thanks for nothing! :)
-Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sVAwZzHVlq8
-Weebly Blog: http://kb.weebly.com/add-more-pages.html
-Internet Search: http://www.ccss.org/
Stop! Look at that! 5 minutes and 58 seconds later I found three answers to my one question.
Other things I had to search for in creating this example website: inserting a chart into Weebly, deleting a page from Weebly, making a blog page for Weebly and inserting an image in between text. I promise you, it is ALL out there!
In the end, there is a lot to learn with this new Web 2.0 tool, but I know you can find the answers to it. Use your brain, use your friend's brain, use the internet brain. We are all in this together... so use the tools that you have been taught how to use.
This Weebly website will act as a growing portfolio over the next quarter. Your Social Studies grade will be based on the assignments marked as "Social Studies" and your English grade will be based on the assignments marked as "English". For example...
Social Studies assignments:
Overall beauty and depth of website
Blog Entries: Did you actually think about this unit? Did something have an impact on you? Use the BIG6 "My Ideas" worksheet for inspiration
+15 Citations: Did you narrow your topic down and find a variety of sources on it?
"I am a 21st Century Learner" reflection: How well are you able to understand this theory and relate it to your experience.
Connect Three projects: Where you able create dynamic and interesting projects that demonstrated a high level of understanding and interest?
English assignments:
Poetry Project Essay:
Rescuer or Bystander:
Memoir:
Holocaust Museum Response: What did you find interesting? What had an impact on you?
Reading Reflections:
All of the assignments can be found on the rubric shared with you on Schoology, found on the individual pages, and found below.

IMPORTANT
This is a time to show me what you can do with a month and a half to prepare. This is your only homework for my class (it works out to a project a week and a blog a week). This project asks very little of you if you do everything "okay"; in fact it will be quite easy to checklist everything. HOWEVER, the point of this project is to push yourself to new heights! How far will you go? What type of content will you create? What extra research will you do to impress? What will you do that shows that you went Above and Beyond (as the mini projects have been asking all year).
Now, I understand this is difficult. Not having specific directions for every project can seem overwhelming. But that also is where the creativity can be found in completing these projects. For example, the bare minimum for the "Holocaust Museum Response" is to write a response. How can you take that further? How can you make that amazing?
The choice is yours and yours alone. I am REALLY excited to see where you take this.
